Iceland is home to all sorts of landscapes – and weather. Check the Icelandic Met Office’s site to see how quickly it changes! You can have 10 degrees Celsius in one place and -12 in the other.
I went on a 7-day solo trip around Iceland in April – the most unpredictable of months. Keep in mind I was travelling on a budget, and packing light. Here is a list of what I brought with me:

- 2 thermal emergency blankets
- A bit of a first-aid kit: Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, Fortasec
- Hygiene essentials: solid shampoo, body wash and deodorant, brush, face and hand cream, toothbrush, toothpaste, antiseptic gel, lip balm
- Travel documents: passport or EU national ID, international driving license, health insurance card, credit card
- Miscellaneous: phone charger, tote bag, headphones, winter pyjamas; a pack of tissues
- A Buff and sunglasses – but I did rent my car with CampEasy and they gave me a sleep mask, a Buff, sunglasses and a frisbee! They provide a first aid kit too!
